This will be a big weekend on the roads, and police in East Texas and across the US are doing what they can to keep us all safe.  Don't forget to buckle up!  Friday will be the busiest travel day, but some folks are starting their vacations now and we can expect the roads to be packed all week.

The Click It or Ticket campaign kicked off Monday and runs through June 2nd.  You've probably seen the signs on some state highways reminding you to fasten your seat belt.  Remember to have the kids properly restrained in their safety seats too, because local police, county sheriff's offices, and state troopers will be watching for anyone unbuckled, and they won't hesitate to hand out a ticket.

The Texas Department of Transportation says last year there were 65 fatal accidents in Angelina County, and 11 of those involved people who were not buckled up.  The goal of this weekend is to prevent traffic deaths.

Memorial Day Weekend is a great time for camping and fishing trips, road trips, and baseball games.  So have fun!  We just want you to come back in one piece.  And instead of paying a fine, put that money toward hot dogs and beverages instead.
