An East Texas County Clerk Resigns Over Same-Sex Marriage Law
Rather than issue marriage licenses to gay couples, the County Clerk in Henderson has decided to quit her job instead.
Rusk County Clerk, Joyce Lewis-Kugle, submitted her resignation letter last week and said she couldn't issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples in good conscience. County commissioners are scheduled to vote on her resignation today, but most seem to think it will be accepted. KHOU reports Lewis-Kugle asked about her options, and the District Attorney told her she had a choice of issuing the license or resigning in protest and she chose the latter.
Think this will make national news? Something tells me it will.
