Adult Women Have the Worst Road Rage in Texas
What is the worst spot for road rage around Lufkin? That spot where South 1st and South Timberland come together? Somewhere along Business 59? Everywhere?
Whether it's a residential street, a highway, or a parking lot, a new study says women are hit the hardest by road rage. Surely not! But the reason behind it will surprise us, and make us feel better, girls.
The new study from Hyundai says women are more likely to lose it behind the wheel because - get this - our intelligence level is higher. There is your silver lining ladies!
The study says when other drivers beep at us, cut us off, or tailgate, it triggers some sort of ancient defense mechanism and we'll fly off the handle as if we're a mama bird and someone has threatened our nest. And everyone knows you don't mess with Mama.
Hyundai's study says, “"...early female ancestors had to develop an acute sense of danger for anything that threatened them and their young if their cave was undefended while men were out hunting. That ‘early warning system’ instinct is still relevant today, and women drivers tend to be more sensitive to negative stimuli, so get angry and frustrated quicker.”
I don't know about you, but having kids in the car makes me drive like a granny! I don't care who's cutting me off. Go on dude in the Camry, and beat your chest and squeal your tires and show off like you just won the Indy 500. The girls and I are singing at the top of our lungs in here.
The study does say music helps calm the nerves behind the wheel, so crank it up. And let us know if you have a spot around Lufkin, or anywhere in East Texas that tends to produce the most road rage. It's gotta be a guy....
