This is truly making the best of a bad situation.

We know that last year was a bad wildfire season. In fact it was the worst season for wildfires since the Texas Forest Service started keeping records in 1922.

Some talented artists though have made art from the ashes, and now that's on display at the Texas Forestry Museum in Lufkin.

The exhibit opened Saturday to illustrate just how destructive the wildfires of September 2011 were in Texas. The museum says the Art from the Ashes exhibit comes from Texas artists and communities affected by the wildfires, and the pieces are all one-of-a-kind.

Check out the exhibit anytime. The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and admission is free. Donations are welcome of course.
