Basketball Game To Feature Lufkin and Nacogdoches All-Stars
High School basketball players from Angelina and Nacogdoches counties will play for bragging rights in the upcoming Pineywoods Showdown.
TV station KTRE puts on the event, and they say the date will be April 25th at Panther Gym at Lufkin Middle School.

Was a Lufkin Man Making Moonshine?
A tip this week led police to a Lufkin man's garage, where they found big tanks and barrels and other alcohol-making equipment, and around 200 gallons of "moonshine" was seized.
The man says he had been planning a commercial distillery for downtown Lufkin for about two years, and was still working to get the proper permits.

Lufkin May Go Smoke Free
Lufkin already has an ordinance that bans smoking at city parks, and limits smoking to restaurants with designated public areas. Under a new proposed ban that the city council looked at this week, the ban would stretch wider and there would be no smoking at city or county facilities, hospitals, stores, or restaurants.

A few days ago, Stacey Faulkner tweeted a photograph of a dog potentially being mishandled by workers at a Lufkin Animal Shelter. That caught the attention of not only her own Twitter Followers, but also the attention of singer Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20.
The firestorm led to an investigation into the animal's treatment at Kurth Memorial Animal Shelter.
Serial Killer Arrested in Lufkin Commits Suicide in Jail
It’s a story that has made national news. Earlier this week, accused serial killer Israel Keyes was found dead in his jail cell in Alaska after an apparent suicide.
He’s accused of abducting, assualting, killing, and dismembering the body of an 18-year old barista who was kidnapped from a coffee stand last February.
In March, Keyes was arrested at the parking lot of a Cotton Patch Cafe in Lufkin after trying to use Samantha Koenig’s stolen debit card.
