Where To Watch The Fireworks On July 4th
July 4th is coming up on Wednesday, and here in Deep East Texas, you've got two big choices of where to watch the fireworks.
As a kid, we always popped fireworks on July 4th at home with our family. We lived pretty far out, and since we weren't in the city limits, there was no reason to not pop fireworks on our own property - with the exception of burn bans a few years.
It actually wasn't until I was older that I learned what kind of fireworks shows that were put on in the city. I had no idea that there were large-scale firework shows going on. However, now I'm aware of them and we've actually got a couple of them in our area that you can take advantage of.
If you're in Nacogdoches, you can take advantage of the Freedom Fest downtown at Festival Park, that's sponsored by Badders Law Firm. It starts at 5:00 PM and goes until 10:00 PM. There will lots of events leading up to the firework show, including bounce houses, water slides, live music, a washers tournament, a burrito eating contest, and more. And, the first 1,000 attendees get a free pair of fireworks glasses. And another thing, this event is free to the public!
If you're in Lufkin, however, there's an event for you as well. You can attend the 13th Annual Mike Love & Associates, LLC July 4th Fireworks Extravaganza. This one will be at the Ellen Trout Zoo, and it's got free admission as well. It all kicks off at 3:00 PM and goes to 10:00 PM. There will be all sorts of events here, including a rock-wall, dunking booth, trampolines, and more.
Either event would be an awesome way to spend July 4th!
