    GO DOWNTOWN

    Go shopping

I don't care if you live in Nacogdoches, Lufkin, or wherever. A TON of attention has been put into the downtown shops, and you're sure to find something that you can't find anywhere else.

Lufkin alone, has a great candle shop, local coffee shop, and several shops where you can get something amazing for anyone in your family. From the new baby, to the grandpa-in-law ... I'm serious.

The parking isn't scary. Just do it.

    Whataburger

    Don't Overthink It

It's too late to try and find one of those Christmas Whataburger sweaters, or Christmas ornaments, but it's never too late to snag a gift card.

Heck, you could even use your leftover Whataburger bags and cups to make something goofy or cute. As Texans, there's something about those orange and white stripes that makes us feel like we're home.

    Go Downtown 2: Electric Boogaloo

    For The Experience

This time, don't go downtown for the shopping necessarily, but take your loved ones for the experience!

It will feel like a scene in a movie, as you walk the beautiful square, bundled up in your jackets...(or t-shirts depending on the crazy Texas weather)

The fact that a wine bar (Restoration), a coffee place (Standpipe), and a fancy restaurant (Manhattan's) are all surrounding the same block kind of spells it out. Downtown is the ultimate date spot. Tickets for the Pines theater are pretty much always $5, and they show the classics and known hits within those majestic walls.

In Lufkin, they've also got the 'Locked With Love' tree and a ridiculous amount of Instagrammably gorgeous spots for pics or couple selfies. And yeah, I know "instagrammably" isn't a  word.

    Life Hack: Baby Stuff

The Ultimate Get Outta Jail Free Card

We all know that in East Texas, just about everyone knows everyone. We got too many relatives to even begin thinking about holiday shopping, HOWEVER ...

We all know someone that maybe just had a baby, and if you get that person something sweet for their baby, it's like hitting two birds with one stone.

The parents will be grateful, the baby will have something nice, and  you'll score major points as the cool Uncle or Aunt that found that perfect something just in time for Christmas.

In Downtown Lufkin (See a theme yet?) There are plenty of local shops that have stuff to keep new babies comfortable as they navigate their first days. Walk into Rusty Accents downtown, and you'll see products you'd wish you had growing up.

    One Of A Kind Gems

I really don't have to list anything specific here. If you go downtown you are GOING to find something that is one of a kind.

This miniature barn, for instance was made by Tammy Stubblefield, who is local to East Texas.

It would make an amazing conversation piece for the home. The artist just started creating miniature model art pieces last year. She's making many more different miniatures, and it would be pretty cool to have one of her first creations. Pop into Rusty Accents, and ask about it.

    Bake Something

Just because Thanksgiving is over doesn't mean people stopped liking pie. Show your love by making your best dish for those you love.

There's something very "Texas" about bringing someone food, and it really is the best gift.

But you may want to stock up on containers you don't mind losing.
