Tony Parker Annouces Retirement

After 18 years in the NBA, Tony Parker announces his retirement in a moving interview with Marc j. Spears from The Undefeated.

The point guard spent 17 seasons in the lone star state under Gregg Popovich's San Antonio Spurs. Where he won four championships. He wore a Charlotte Hornet jersey for just one year, and still had one more under contract.

The 37-year-old will always be a Spur and even though he enjoyed his last year in Charlotte it just wasn't the same.

I didn’t feel like the need of having a goodbye. For me, the goodbye will be when my jersey will be retired [in San Antonio] or I make the Hall of Fame.

A six-time All-Star played in 1,254 games and finished with career averages of 15.5 points, 5.6 assists, and 2.7 rebounds. There are no stats that show the magnitude of impact he had in the postseason. Both as a leader and as a clutch performer.

In retirement, the native of France will call Texas and the Alamo city home once again.

I’m going to live in San Antonio. We live in San Antonio. It will be home; that will always be home. So I’m definitely going to stay in San Antonio.

It’s home. I arrived here 19 years old and they embraced me. They treated me like their son, and it’s always gonna be home. It is family.
