Summer Boat Show Opens in Houston

Summer is here, and what better way to kick it off than with a trip to the big Houston Summer Boat Show?

People in east Texas are the envy of people everywhere, because we are literally surrounded by lakes.  Just look at a Texas map.  Lakes of all sizes are everywhere from the Gulf Coast to the Red River.

This is why the Houston Summer Boat Show is such a big deal for east Texans.  Boaters and wannabe boaters know it's the place to go for good deals on new boats and boating gear and learn the latest in marine technology and boat maintenance.

Houston's Reliant Center is filled with fishing and recreational boats of all sizes and shapes, from luxury cabin cruisers to sail boats, bass runners, pontoon boats, canoes and kayaks.  There are activities for the whole family, including live fishing demonstrations, and a Fish-O-Rama where you and your kids can catch a rainbow trout.

There's also an inflatable playground, and the first 50 kids through the door every day will get a free rod & reel.

The Houston Summer Boat Show runs through Sunday in Reliant Center.
