The summer break is here and so starts the list of things to do with the kids. Some of the more common summer destinations in our area include the pool, splash pad, zoo, movies, vacation Bible school, and a very popular musical centered upon one of the most beloved children's shows of all time...wait a minute.  What was that last one?

Scooby-Doo is coming to Lufkin

This Sunday, June 5, at 3 p.m., for one show only, Scooby-Doo and his meddling, mystery-solving friends will be at the Temple Theater on the Angelina College campus in the traveling production of Scooby-Doo! and The Lost City of Gold.  Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Daphne, Fred, and Velma are faced with yet another mystery to solve.  This time the adventure will take the Scooby-Doo and crew to Alta Luz, a fictitious South American town where ghostly sightings of La Dama de Oro (The Lady In Gold) threaten to scare attendees away from the annual music festival and Incan sun god celebration.

This mystery is sure to envelop the minds of kids of all ages as this new mystery is brought to life with cutting-edge technology, original music, puppetry, magic, singing, dance, interactive video, aerial arts, acrobatics, and video mapping.

According to the musical's description:

Through dialogue, dance, song, and amazing landscapes, audiences will join the journey as the Gang takes the Mystery Machine on its first flight to a land of ancient civilizations, legends, and culture. As they sniff for clues (and snacks), a trail of extinct purple irises leads them through a veritable Nazca lines labyrinth of mystery as the Gang meets friends…or foes?…Miguel the groundskeeper, Luis the lama, botanist Professor Falcone, the Pachacuties, and Ayar Manco (the 13th Century founder of the Incan civilization).

Scooby-Doo! and The Lost City of Gold is presented by the Angelina Arts Alliance in its Discovery Series. Thanks to local sponsors, the tickets are quite affordable. Kids under 17 can get their seat for $6, and only $11 for everyone else.  There are also VIP packages available.  Get your tickets here.
