If you want to watch a new Marvel show in May you’re going to need to subscribe to Hulu, not Disney+. That’s where the new animated series M.O.D.O.K. premieres on May 21. Comedian Patton Oswalt voices the title character, the sinister and extremely-large-headed Marvel villain who controls A.I.M. The show boasts a unique animated style (everything looks like toys!) and a quirky comedic tone, making it very different than the stuff Marvel has going on over at DIsney+.

Should you prefer something that does not feature mental organisms designed only for killing, Hulu also has several other premieres this month like last year’s acclaimed horror film Saint Maud and Some Kind of Heaven, a documentary about the United States’ largest retirement community, The Villages down in Florida. For library titles, they’re also adding The Iron Giant, Train to Busan, and Predator.

Here’s everything coming to Hulu in May:

Some Kind of Heaven (2020)
America’s seniors have discovered the fountain of youth. It’s in The Villages, FL. With SOME KIND OF HEAVEN, first-time feature director Lance Oppenheim cracks the manicured facade of The Villages, America’s largest retirement community – a massive, self-contained utopia located in Central Florida. Behind the gates of this palm tree-lined fantasyland, SOME KIND OF HEAVEN invests in the dreams and desires of a small group of Villages residents – and one interloper – who are unable to find happiness within the community’s pre-packaged paradise. With strikingly composed cinematography, this candy-colored documentary offers a tender and surreal look at the never-ending quest for finding meaning and love in life’s final act.

MLK/FBI (2021)
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is remembered today as an American hero: a bridge-builder, a shrewd political tactician, and a moral leader. Yet throughout his history-altering political career, he was often treated by U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies like an enemy of the state. In this virtuosic documentary, award-winning editor and director Sam Pollard lays out a detailed account of the FBI surveillance that dogged King’s activism throughout the ’50s and ’60s, fueled by the racist and red-baiting paranoia of J. Edgar Hoover. In crafting a rich archival tapestry, featuring some revelatory restored footage of King, Pollard urges us to remember that true American progress is always hard-won.
