If there's one thing that there's not a shortage of in Nacogdoches, it's apartment complexes. And, rightfully so, considering that there are thousands of students living in town throughout the year.

But, there's one complex that has changed names several times since I began to call Nacogdoches home. The one I'm referring to is located behind Brookshire Brothers, just off of University Drive.

When I came to Nacogdoches as a student in 2012, it was known as "The Grove". It was arguably the most widely-known apartment complex in town. Sometime after that, it was renamed "The Verge". I don't know why the change took place, whether it was new management, a new marketing scheme, or both. All I know, is that it changed names.

Then, most recently, it was named "The Overlook". Once again, I have no idea why this change took place, I just know that it changed. But, the name-change isn't the most intriguing part of the story. The most intriguing part, at least to me, is the fact that the name coincides with the name of a setting in Stephen King's book, "The Shining". Remember the old creepy hotel? Yes, that one.

So, what was the real reason of going with "The Overlook" as the name? Was the owner a Stephen King fan? Or, was it just that they liked the name "The Overlook"? Or, was it a different reason? If you have any thoughts or insight on any of this, let us know in the comments below.
