Even though some work now done at the Lufkin Postal Processing Center will be moved to Tyler, and some employees will be reassigned, it appears that mail service in Lufkin won't be affected.

After a study that began last year. the U.S. Postal Service has decided to move some, but not all, mail processing operations from the Lufkin Processing and Distribution Facility to its processing center in Tyler.

In a press release, Dallas District Manager Victor Benavides said “Consolidating operations and placing our people where we need them is necessary if the Postal Service is to remain viable to provide mail service to the nation...Some employees may be reassigned to the Tyler plant or to other vacant positions as a result of the move."

The Lufkin Postal Processing Center will continue to provide all the services it now provides for business and non-commercial customers.
