What is A Kermes?

A Kermés is basically a lively, community-style festival that’s super popular in Latin American countries—especially Mexico. Think of it like a fun school carnival or church fair, but with way better food, vibrant music, and a whole lotta culture sprinkled on top.

What You’ll Always Find at a Kermés

Kermés season comes around once a year and if you have never been to one, here is what you will ALWAYS find at your local Kermés!

Kermes ia a community run event that supports local organizations:

They're usually organized by schools, churches, or nonprofits to raise money for programs and they’re a total vibe. It's like the whole community comes together for one big fiesta.

El Pasoan, Guadalupe Robledo, did every El Pasoan a favor and called up each church in El Paso to find out when they would be having their Kermes and she shared the list with us! (You’re the real MVP Guadalupe!!)
