Travel Costs Drop for Texans This Labor Day Weekend
We are in the final stretch of summer in Texas, even though it officially ends on September 22, 2025, with the autumnal equinox. The non-official end of summer is Labor Day.
Many Texans use this time for one last getaway before the fall frenzy hits, which takes us into holiday chaos. It could be a quick trip to a place 2 hours away, or you could be hopping on a plane and flying across the country. Either way, Labor Day weekend is a time for fun.
Where Texans Are Saving Most on Travel
This Labor Day, especially if you are traveling to your destination by car, it probably isn't going to cost you as much as it did last year. According to AAA Texas, the average price of gas in Texas is $2.74 per gallon of regular unleaded. Last year, the average cost per gallon was $3.01.
If you are planning on hopping a plane and flying to your destination this weekend, you are paying 6% less for flights, 3% less for car rentals, and 11% less for hotels than last year.
