In case you’re wondering why I have no intention of ever riding in a self-driving car, this video right here should help you understand. Seriously, you would have to put a gun to my head to get me to ride in one of those things (and that might not even work).

Call me old-fashioned, but I just don’t understand the infatuation some people have with letting machines do all the work for you. And that’s coming from someone who will quickly admit to being lazy. I avoid manual labor at all costs.

The Self-Driving Car Debate Isn’t Going Away

However, driving isn’t that big of a deal for me. I’ve been doing it ever since I was a little boy sitting in my dad’s lap, steering the truck out on country roads. That said, I’m not a total control freak who refuses to let anyone else do the driving. As long as that someone is a human being who knows better than to stop a couple of feet away from a train track.

As you can see in the video below, a Waymo driverless taxi did just that in Austin recently. Luckily, no one was in the vehicle at the time. Because even though the train didn’t hit the car, I know that if I were in there, I most definitely would have needed a clean pair of underwear when all was said and done.
