So yeah, it doesn’t matter where the hell I put down roots, you can guarantee that I’ll be stressed regardless. But I will say that as someone who grew up in a small town, big cities tend to stress me out (the irony is that I enjoy visiting some of our biggest cities in Texas).

Houston and San Antonio: Texas’s Most Stressed Cities

So, I wasn’t surprised when I saw that two of our biggest cities were the most stressed according to a study conducted by WalletHub: Houston and San Antonio, respectively.

Houston, the most stressed city in the Lone Star State, ranked high for work and health and safety stress. Work stress is a tough one to avoid, even when you have a cool job like mine. But being worried about health and safety is something city officials need to work on alleviating.

Health and safety stress is also an issue in San Antonio. Interestingly, folks in San Antonio experience high levels of familial stress. That’s a tough one, as they’re your family and you love them, so it’s hard to push them away, even though they stress you out.

When Stress Becomes Dangerous: The Need for Change

It’s important to point out that a little bit of stress has been found to be good for you. “Acute stress” helps keep us alert. But chronic stress can wear you down and lead to serious health issues. That’s when you know something needs to change.
