Over the past several weeks, road crews have been working on repaving North Street in Nacogdoches. As all road construction jobs do, this caused a bit of frustration for motorists. However, it was probably needed, so the frustration was worth it.

Within the last few days, the crews finished the paving completely, and temporary road stripes were put down that will be there until the contractors can finish with permanent striping. Driving on North Street with those temporary lanes is actually scarier than driving in the active construction zone ever was. However, that fear is scheduled to come to an end...SOON.

Permanent Street Striping of North Street Will Begin Sunday, May 10th

According to the City of Nacogdoches - City Government Facebook page, TxDOT striping contractors are set to begin the permanent striping of North Street on Sunday, May 10th in the evening. Now, keep in mind, this will happen if the weather is permitting. As of right now, the weather forecast looks to be mostly sunny that day with a slight chance of rain - But we know how forecasts in Deep East Texas go...

I say all of that to say this: Please drive cautiously on Sunday evening and throughout this process. I mean, please drive cautiously all the time, but especially when there are workers out and about. They'll be working in the evening, not in broad daylight, so please keep an eye out for them if you're driving down North Street.

As far as the completion of the entire project, I don't know the expected timeline, but I wouldn't think that it would take too long to complete. Drive safe, everyone!
