Every Deep East Texas County Is Now Under A Burn Ban Amid Brutal Heat

It is hot outside. Yes, I know that this is not exactly a piece of shocking information for anyone that has spent any time in Deep East Texas. It's August. Of course it's hot here in the Pineywoods. However, it's not just hot. It's dry, too. And all of the residents know it.

Every County in Deep East Texas is Now Under a Burn Ban

Every single county that makes up Deep East Texas - Angelina, Houston, Nacogdoches, Newton, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Tyler and Trinity Counties - are now officially under burn bans. San Augustine was the final county in our area to declare a ban, which officially started on August 18th according to a Facebook post from San Augustine County Judge Jeff Boyd.

As of right now, there's no telling how long this dry spell is going to continue. There's also no telling when we might see even a hint of rain. According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, high temperatures are supposed to be above 100° every day through Tuesday, August 25th.

The Weather Channel website is even rougher, showing triple-digit highs through Wednesday, August 26th, before a high of "only" 99° on Thursday, August 27th.

All this means is that you need to be careful. Whether you're in Nacogdoches, Lufkin, Center, Pineland, Crockett or any of our other Deep East Texas areas, be smart. Do not burn anything. Not only is it breaking the law, but it's also dangerous.

The burn bans won't last forever. Give it some time, and we'll make it through.
