July 17th was National Tattoo Day. You might remember the post that we put up about it, where we listed tattoo shops around Deep East Texas. Over the weekend, that list changed, and we lost one of our Deep East Texas shops permanently.

Black Spot Tattoo Company is Permanently Closed

Lots of you are familiar with Black Spot Tattoo Company. It is - or was - located at 302 Mantooth Avene in Lufkin. They were known for their traditional, hand-poked tattoos. They've been doing artwork for people since 2014. Well, after 12 years doing that, Black Spot Tattoo Company is permanently closed.

The announcement took me by surprise. A post came across my timeline informing me that Black Spot Tattoo Company had updated their cover photo. It wasn't even a photo. It was just a black background with white lettering that simply said this: Black Spot Tattoo Company Permanently Closed.

At first, I thought it must be a joke. However, the option for commenting on that post was turned off, meaning I couldn't get any insight that way. So, I went to the BlackSpotTattooCompany Instagram page. At the top of the page, it said, "Permanently Closed. Thank you for your support over the years."

The last place I checked was the final piece that made me realize that this wasn't a joke. I Googled Black Spot Tattoo Company. There on the results page it's listed as "Permanently Closed".

I still haven't heard what caused the closure of the local tattoo shop, and I might not ever hear exactly what happened. What I do know is that we now have one less tattoo shop in Deep East Texas. However, if you're looking for somewhere to get ink, we still have lots of other options. You can see those options below:

Tattoo Shops in Deep East Texas

Ink is pretty popular all over the place. In fact, we have several tattoo shops right here in Deep East Texas. Check them out below.
