Powerball Drawing Produces a Multi-Millionaire in This Texas Town
If you drive about 15 miles to the southwest of San Antonio on Interstate 35, you'll pass through the town of Lytle, Texas -- population about 2500.
Just off the interstate, there's a brand new Stripes convenience store. A Mexican restaurant used to stand there before it was razed and replaced with Stripes.
The convenience store has only been open since July, but there is one area resident who has about 2,000,000 reasons to be glad that it opened.
$672 Powerball Jackpot
The drawing for the latest Powerball jackpot took place on Wednesday, September 20. Nobody matched all six numbers, but three players did match the five non-Powerball numbers, 2 in Georgia and one in Texas.
The Texas player made a smart financial decision by adding an extra dollar for the Powerplay option. That extra dollar doubled the winnings on that ticket from $1 million to $2 million.
No word yet on the identification of the person who walked into that Stripes store in Lytle and bought that winning Quick Pick ticket.
Powerball Jackpot Increases
The next Powerball drawing won't happen until the Fall, which will occur this Saturday. The new jackpot will be worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $725 million, with an estimated cash value of $345.7 million.
The Mega Millions jackpot also continues to grow. It is now up to $205 million ($98 million cash value), and the next drawing for it will take place on Friday, September 22.
Remember to play responsibly, and keep in mind that the odds of winning the Powerball or Mega Millions jackpot is approximately 1 in 300,000,000.
