Lufkin’s Wayne Haglund is Once Again Named Texas Super Lawyer
In 1977, the first Star Wars movie to hit the big screen was released. Saturday Night Fever and Smokey & The Bandit were also big blockbusters that year.
Meanwhile, on the music charts, The Eagles scored big with 'Hotel California', while 'Margaritaville' by Jimmy Buffett and 'Lucille' by Kenny Rogers were also huge hits that year.
1977 was also the year that a recently licensed attorney began providing legal counsel for the Lufkin Independent School District. 46 years later, Wayne Haglund continues to be an outstanding legal resource for LISD.
It was recently announced that Haglund has been selected as a Texas Super Lawyer in Schools in Education for 2023. Mr. Haglund has been named as a Texas Super Lawyer since 2004, marking the 20th consecutive year in which he has received this honor. The selection as Texas Super Lawyer is based upon the review of peers in the State Bar of Texas.
In addition, Mr. Haglund has been honored by being rated AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell, the highest possible rating for an attorney for both ethical standards and legal ability. This rating is achieved only after being reviewed and recommended by peers, members of the Bar and the judiciary. Mr. Haglund has been rated AV Preeminent since 2004.
"We are extremely fortunate to have Mr. Haglund's school law expertise at Lufkin ISD," Kurt Stephens, Deputy Superintendent. "Not only is he a reputable lawyer in his own right, but his wealth of knowledge on school law has been an invaluable resource for the District. It is no surprise that he has received this honor for the past 20 years."
Mr. Haglund became a licensed attorney in 1975. Before practicing law, he attended law school at The University of Texas School of Law.
