REPORT: Dallas Cowboy from East Texas Tears ACL, Out for the Year
Every preseason, there are a handful of NFL players that suffer season-ending injuries. According to a report, the Dallas Cowboys got a double dose of tragic news following their latest game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Tight End John Stephens and Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown both suffered knee injuries in Saturday night's game and after examinations on Sunday, it looks like both highly touted players will be lost for the year.
A Look at East Texas' DeMarvion Overshow
Overshown is a rookie linebacker who was drafted in the third round from the University of Texas. He has been turning heads in training camp and during the first games of the preseason.
Between Tyler and Henderson, you will find the small town of Arp, Texas. It's the home of the Arp Tigers. That's where Overshown played high school football.
DeMarvion is a football standout, of course, but he also proved earlier in NFL training camp that he has another talent...singing country music. The Dallas Cowboys hosted a rookie premiere several weeks ago. During this event, some of the Dallas rookies are gathered on stage for a get-to-know-them session.
During that event, the host asked all the rookies on stage the following question:
"If you had to challenge anyone on this stage in the one thing that you are fully confident that you would win in...what would it be?"
Without hesitation, Overshown spoke up and said he would win a singing contest. He was then put on the spot to back up that claim. DeMarvion launched into an acapella version of Josh Turner's 'Your Man'...and he did a dang good job.
It's sad that a young man with so much to contribute as a rookie will have to sit out this season, but he's ready to cheer on his team throughout the year.
