Congratulations are in order for Kelly Augustine at the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce. She has been named as the new President/CEO of the chamber. She will assume the position on January 1, 2024, succeeding C. Wayne Mitchell.

“Kelly has years of experience with our chamber, established relationships with volunteers and community leaders...and has a passion for the job,” said Chairman of the Board Dr. Ryan Head. “After the announcement of Mr. Mitchell’s retirement earlier this year, the board of directors carefully considered the best succession plan for the organization and conducted a search. Placing Kelly as president of the chamber ensures a seamless transition and keeps us on track in the chamber’s mission to create an environment where businesses can succeed.”

Ms. Augustine successfully completed the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organization Management (IOM) certification in November 2021. She has attended numerous state chamber conferences and trainings and enjoys learning from her peers in the industry. She is an SFASU graduate with a B.A. degree, majoring in journalism with an emphasis in public relations.

Ms. Augustine serves on the boards of Nacogdoches Area United Way and Texas Forest Country Partnership.

She and her husband Matt are East Texas natives, members of Calvary Baptist Church, and are happily settled in Nacogdoches.

“Not long after joining the chamber team in 2006 as membership and marketing manager, I found the different reasons people chose Nac as the place to build their businesses inspiring. Working with our business leaders and members of the chamber is a blessing for me,” Augustine said. “I sincerely appreciate the wisdom and experience gained while working with former CEOs Bruce Partain and Bill Teague. When Wayne came on board, he expanded my understanding of chamber of commerce work and transformed a job into a career I treasure.”
