Iconic East Texas Statue to be Moved
As you head into Pittsburg (Texas, not Pennsylvania) on Highway 271, you'll come across a large statue of East Texas business pioneer Bo Pilgrim. He is the founder of Pilgrim's Pride chicken. His chicken is well known across the country and is pretty good, too.
His 37 foot tall statue is a true head turner. It's not a surprise to see a car or two pulled over to take a picture with it.
But soon, the iconic statue will be taken down to be returned to the family according to KLTV. It is not known what will happen to the "Bo Head" other than that the family will take back possession.
However, a smaller bronze statue, in the pavilion underneath, of Bo and his pet chicken, Henrietta, will be moved to Pilgrim Bank in Mount Pleasant.
Bo Pilgrim had a slew of silly commercials for his Pilgrim Pride brand in the late 80's and early 90's.
Bo Pilgrim passed away in 2017 at the age of 89.
