Notre Dame

I still remember the beautiful silence when I stood inside the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris nearly 10 years ago.  I've been in numerous churches, but a place like this commands a different kind of reticence.  I've looked at these pictures that my family took many times since 2011, but the feeling is very different when I look at them now.  It's very hard to come to terms with the fact that what is in these pictures may have been completely destroyed.

But then, after looking at some of the aftermath in picture and videos, I am lifted up knowing that some of the beauty and history has survived.  There is the golden cross and alter at the heart of church, beautiful as ever even though it is surrounding by mounds by charred timber.

The quality of the pictures we took on that Spring Break trip leave much to be desired, but I thought I would share them with you.
