2 Killed in Late Night Crash Involving East Texas School Bus
Two persons were killed Thursday night when a Mount Pleasant school bus returning from a track meet in Paris, Texas was involved in a 3-vehicle collision on Highway 271.
According to multiple reports, an 18-wheeler travelling north on Highway 271 near the town of Talco, swerved into the southbound lane causing the driver of the bus to take evasive maneuvers. The 18-wheeler then struck a sedan, driven by an assistant girl's track coach at Mt. Pleasant, that was following the bus.
The drivers of the sedan and of the 18-wheeler were killed.
The school bus was carrying members of the Mt. Pleasant boys track team and numerous injuries were reported. The driver of the school bus is listed in critical condition.
