The Lufkin News reports Lufkin School District officials are worrying out loud about the federal funding the district stands to lose when the Federal Budget Control Act goes into effect in January.
The Lufkin School Board is in the process of cutting roughly one and a half million dollars out of the annual budget, and the cuts aren't expected to stop there.
In addition to losing teachers, Texas schools could also lose new textbooks in the legislature's struggle to balance the state budget, and it's turning into a tug of war between the legislature and the State Board of Education.
