According to a press release from Nacogdoches ISD, a school bus was involved in a minor accident today (4/12/16) after school.

The accident occurred at Loop 224 in front of Winder’s in Nacogdoches at approximately 3:35 PM. According to Dr. Fred Hayes, Nacogdoches ISD Superintendent, Bus #19 was traveling at a very low rate of speed, when the accident occurred. Approximately 60 students were on the bus.

A few students reported injuries at the scene of the accident, complaining of back and leg pain but no one was transported to the hospital via ambulance. Some students have been picked from the site. The remaining students will be transported home and will be arriving late.

“Bus #19 is state compliant and features compartmentalization safety standards,” explained Hayes. “I am very proud of the way our driver handled the situation. The transportation team handled the situation professionally.”

Nacogdoches ISD wants to thank the Nacogdoches Police Department, Fire Department and EMS for their prompt and efficient response.
