East Texas has a threat of wintry precipitation and temperatures well below freezing through Friday morning.  We will be updating this page with delays and closures of area schools, businesses, and organizations.

SABINE COUNTY – TX-87 SOUTH OF FM-3315 ICE ON ROADWAYS AND BRIDGES. APPROX 1 TO 2 INCHES OF SNOW ON MOST ROADWAYS WITH POSSIBLE ICE UNDERNEATH IN SOME LOCATIONS. TRAVEL DISCOURAGED.

 

ANGELINA COUNTY – IN AND AROUND THE CITY OF LUFKIN, ROADS HAVE ICED AND ARE COVERED WITH APPROX 1/2 INCH OF SNOW. TXDOT TO EVALUATE & POSSIBLY CLOSE CERTAIN OVERPASSES. NORTH LOOP 287/MEDFORD DRIVE CONNECTING WITH ELLEN TROUT IS VERY SLICK WITH BLACK ICE. TRAVEL NOT RECOMMENDED. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF OVER ONE INCH OBSERVED.

 

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY – NO ROADS CLOSED. BRIDGES ARE ICED. TRAVEL NOT RECOMMENDED. ANGELINA RIVER BRIDGE ON US-59 IS ICED OVER.

TROOPERS AND TXDOT EQUIPMENT POSITIONED TO SLOW MOTORIST PRIOR TO CROSSING THE ANGELINA RIVER BRIDGE. US-259 AT US-59 INTERCHANGE IS EXPERIENCING HEAVY ICE PROBLEMS. THE BUSINESS 59 OVERPASS ON THE NORTH SIDE OF NACOGDOCHES HAS BEEN SANDED SEVERAL TIMES. US-59 AT FM-343 HAS ICE ON THE ROADWAY. TRAVEL DISCOURAGED IN THESE AREAS.

ANGELINA RIVER BRIDGE ON TX-7 – NO REPORT.

 

POLK COUNTY – NO ROADS CLOSED. ICING ON BRIDGES AND SOME ROADWAYS.

1:00AM: MOSCOW OVERPASS ON US-59 AT MOSCOW IS ICED. US-190 BRIDGE AT ONALASKA IS ICED. BEAR CREEK ON US-190 EAST AT THE INDIAN RESERVATION NEAR TYLER COUNTY IS ICED. TXDOT NOTIFIED FOR ASSISTANCE. TRAVEL DISCOURAGED IN ICY AREAS. USE CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING ON ANY BRIDGE IN POLK COUNTY.

 

SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY – LIGHT ICING OF ROADS AND BRIDGES; COUNTY WIDE.

NO ROADS CLOSED. TX-147 BRIDGE IS OPEN AND HAS BEEN SANDED. TRAVEL STILL NOT RECOMMENDED UNTIL APPROX NOON.

 

SHELBY COUNTY – FROM THE CITY OF CENTER SOUTH INTO SAN AUGUSTINE AND SABINE COUNTIES, MOST ROADS ARE COVERED WITH SNOW AND LIGHT ICE. NO CLOSINGS. SMALL BRIDGES ON US-59 BETWEEN TENAHA AND TIMPSON ARE ICED AND DIFFICULT TO CROSS.

 

TRINITY COUNTY – NO ROADS CLOSED. LIGHT SNOW AND ICE ACCUMULATIONS ON ROADWAYS. NECHES RIVER BRIDGE OM TX-94 IS ICY BUT NOT CLOSED. TRAVEL IS STRONGLY DISCOURAGED.

HOUSTON COUNTY – NO CLOSURES. HEAVY SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ON VARIOUS ROADWAYS. SOME ICING OF BRIDGES.

NECHES RIVER BRIDGE ON TX-7 – NO REPORT.

TYLER COUNTY – NO ROAD CLOSURES. ICING ON SOME ROADS AND MOST BRIDGES.

NO OTHER KNOWN ISSUES.

After her family was killed execution style last Wednesday near Houston, people are coming out in droves to help the 15-year old sole survivor.

Cassidy Stay's parents and four siblings were killed in the shootings at their home, but Cassidy survived after a bullet grazed her head and she played dead until the violence ended. Now almost $300,000 has been raised for her benefit, as she starts her new life without her family.
