The Lufkin Parks and Recreation Departments first daddy daughter dance was held at the Pitser Garrison Civic Center in 2016. The tradition will continue this year, with "To The Moon & Back' on April 24th, 2021.

Tickets will go on sale on March 24th, 2021, one month ahead of the event. You can get your tickets online at lufkinparks.com then, or you can always call them for other ways of purchasing tickets at (936) 633-0250

Last years event was called 'Rock the Red Carpet', and looking back at the pictures everyone involved had a great time. Tickets were very affordable, and daughters had to be at least 5 years old. There were light refreshments, cookies and drinks.

There was a great DJ, and you could even request songs. The event is for all father figures, such as a stepfather, brother, uncle, etc. I think this years event will be just as enjoyable.

Daddy daughter interaction gained popularity after WWII. It started showing up in the form of lavish weddings. It is now seen as sweet and cute when a father spends time with his daughters.

The father daughter dance has become a time honored tradition. Asserting a positive male role model into the lives of children has been proven to have a positive effect no matter the gender.

It's assumed that mom's spend plenty of time with their kids, and that dads spend plenty of time with their sons, so this is there to fill the gap. For whatever reason it started, this is a beloved activity between fathers and daughters.
