Jen Austin

It's fun to pick on the boys in the office, fun to play music, and fun to talk to you all day at work. Thanks for listening! I grew up in a one-stoplight town in rural Nebraska. My whole family still lives there and I love going back to visit them, but I also love Texas. Barbecue, fajitas, and great live music....it's the place to be. I've lived in Texas for 16 years now. Austin, Dallas, and here. I've worked in radio from the moment I graduated from college. (The University of Nebraska...Go Huskers!) I've been on a hundred stations at one point or another. I just love radio. Other things I love....let's see. Blue ink. Black bores me a bit. I love cheddar cheese and barbecue sauce and anything that the two happen to touch. I fall asleep in almost every movie I attempt to watch I have made it through Eat, Pray, Love and Mr. Wright. I like chick flicks. I have an awesome family and love spending time with them. You'll probably hear me talk about my daughters on the air. They're toddler girls who exhaust me, crack me up, and amaze me because I don't think I was ever that smart. I have two miniature schnauzers too. Thanks for stopping by. Now tell me about you.

Lufkin Man Makes Knives With History

It's one thing to make knives.

That's a skill most people just don't have, and something that takes a lot of time, attention, and craftsmanship.  And how about knives made with the steel from American battleships?  Those are truly unique.

Richardson Knives in Lufkin is selling the one-of-a-kind knives, crafted by Perry Richardson, who says on his website he's been making knives since 1989.

Halloween Events Planned in Lufkin

Here are a few ideas about events happening around Lufkin around Halloween, so you and the kids can plan accordingly. Don't miss out!

The last week of October is always a busy one for trick-or-treaters, and parents have to make choices about which organized events to attend; or mix some of those events in while also taking the kids house-to-house for candy in the neighborhood.

Cowboys Match Comeback Record

So, if you're anything like me you gave up on the Cowboys in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Rams.  It was 21-0 and the Rams looked like they were the boss!  I thought it was going to be another one of those crazy turnover-ridden Cowboy games that frustrates fans and makes us want to drown our sorrows in more chicken wings and beer, but the Cowboys got it together and tied a record for the biggest comeback in team history.

Texas Has 14 Of The Biggest High Schools In The US

I graduated with 12 people in my high school class in Nebraska, so it's hard for me to comprehend a high school where there are three thousands students.  That's huge! Or maybe it's time to admit my little class of six boys and six girls was abnormally tiny.  I graduated at the top of my class, but I don't spend much time telling people I only had 11 people behind me.  Shh...don't tell!  And those that graduated in the top 50 percent were actually in the top six.  That' doesn't happen often.

Texas has some of the biggest high schools in the US, and some of those have more than four thousand students.
