Jen Austin

It's fun to pick on the boys in the office, fun to play music, and fun to talk to you all day at work. Thanks for listening! I grew up in a one-stoplight town in rural Nebraska. My whole family still lives there and I love going back to visit them, but I also love Texas. Barbecue, fajitas, and great live music....it's the place to be. I've lived in Texas for 16 years now. Austin, Dallas, and here. I've worked in radio from the moment I graduated from college. (The University of Nebraska...Go Huskers!) I've been on a hundred stations at one point or another. I just love radio. Other things I love....let's see. Blue ink. Black bores me a bit. I love cheddar cheese and barbecue sauce and anything that the two happen to touch. I fall asleep in almost every movie I attempt to watch I have made it through Eat, Pray, Love and Mr. Wright. I like chick flicks. I have an awesome family and love spending time with them. You'll probably hear me talk about my daughters on the air. They're toddler girls who exhaust me, crack me up, and amaze me because I don't think I was ever that smart. I have two miniature schnauzers too. Thanks for stopping by. Now tell me about you.

Bridge Collapse on I-35 North of Austin Was Sudden and Deadly

If you've spent any time on I-35 between Dallas and Austin, you know it's one of the most congested stretches of roadway in the entire country.  When any type of accident happens is ties up the roadway for miles.  With Thursday's bridge collapse, drivers were taking a detour through Salado that added at least 30 minutes to the trip.  Here's what happened.

All High School Athletes May Have to Get EKGs Before Playing

It's rare, but there have been stories of high school athletes suffering heart issues on the field, and there's been more than one death.  One of those stories is too many.

A new bill is making its way through the process in Austin, and if it's passed, it would require all Texas high school athletes to get an EKG heart screening test before they can play.

Austin Spot Has Legal Poker Games

It looks like poker doesn't have to be a game for the kitchen table with a bunch of guy friends, and it's more than a garage game on a card table with the garage door up all night long.  In Central Texas anyway.  An Austin business has found a way to let players walk away with winnings, and make it legal.

March Madness is a Huge Time Suck at Work, and Maybe That’s Okay

You've probably seen the headlines about March Madness, and how employers are faced with dilemmas about whether to ban basketball-watching and bracket-checking at the office or just let it slide. People are gonna check scores anyway right?  I mean we've got our smart phones.  Seems like a losing battle.  Linkedin says bosses should go ahead and embrace the Madness.
