Adopting a child from the Salvation Army Angel Tree has not only been a blessing to our family through the years, but it has also been such a great teaching tool for our own kids. The Christmas season is about love and giving, and helping other children is a great example of that.  It's such a proud parent moment when you see your children picking gifts for those children that your family has adopted.

The deadline for purchasing the gifts and needs of area children is this Friday, December 13th. As of this writing, approximately 80 names remain on the Salvation Army's Angel Trees in Lufkin.  Those trees can be found at Hobby Lobby, Belk, Olive Garden, CHI St Luke's Memorial Hospital, Crown Colony, Harbor Hospice, Old Navy, Chick-fil-A and Wal-Mart.

As you can see from the picture above, adopting a kid or several from the Angel Tree is very turnkey. The listing of needs and wants and gifts is plainly listed, all you need to do is shop for those items and then take them to the Salvation Army headquarters in downtown Lufkin at 412 South 3rd Street. But, once again, the deadline is coming up this Friday.  Please consider making time to help the less fortunate this holiday season and God bless you!
