A series of tornadoes ripped across Arkansas, Oklahoma and Iowa on Sunday, killing at least 17 people and destroying multiple homes, vehicles and businesses.
A series of tornadoes hit Oklahoma Friday night, killing at least 13 people and leaving many more missing, without homes or stranded. Other storms and flooding also hit Arkansas and Missouri, and remnants of that severe weather moved east all the way to New England, where 19,000 are still without power on Monday morning.
Officials in Oklahoma have lowered the number of deaths suffered to 24 in the massive tornado that swept through the town of Moore Monday night. Originally, the figure had been as high as 51, probably a result of double-counting.
