The Texas Forest Service has determined that a spark from a worn out wheel bearing started the wildfire that has burned thousands of acres of forest in Polk and Trinity Counties.
Firefighters, members of the Texas Forest Service, and numerous volunteers were able to get the upper hand this weekend on many wildfires across our state, however, Mother Nature has another dose of dry, windy weather set for Tuesday.
Although some rain has fallen across parts of the state and more is expected in parts of East and Northeast Texas through Tuesday, Texas remains a tinderbox.

Governor Rick Perry is calling on Texans to pray for rain, as the 4th worst drought in the state’s history shows no sign of letting up, and firefighters continue battling wildfires that have charred more than one and a half million acres across the state.
Angelina County Commissioners have voted to extend the county-wide ban on outdoor burning for 90 days. This means burning anything outdoors is illegal, and violators will be prosecuted.
A wildfire about 70 miles west of Fort Worth is now more than twice as big as previous estimates, and the weather is making it hard for firefighters to even bring it under control.
