How to Get a 75-Cent Whataburger Today (If You’re Cool With Downloading Another App)
Whataburger is turning 75 this week, and to celebrate, they’re giving customers the ultimate Texas birthday gift: a 75-cent burger. That’s right, less than a buck for their #1 classic hamburger. But before you start digging through your car’s cupholder for exact change, here’s the catch: you can’t actually use your change. You’ll need to order online or through the Whataburger app, because apparently no restaurant in 2025 believes in giving out deals without making you download something first.
The Deal
From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, you can snag one 75-cent #1 classic hamburger, but only if you have a Whataburger rewards account. And yes, it’s limited to one burger per customer. Which is fine, because you probably shouldn’t eat more than one before noon anyway. According to Whataburger’s President and CEO Debbie Stroud, this is their way of saying “thank you” for our loyalty and for letting them be part of our tables, just as long as our tables also have Wi-Fi.
Why the App Thing?
The reality is, in 2025, you can’t get free nuggets, birthday fries, or a cheap burger without an app, a login, and at least two push notifications reminding you to “check out what’s new.” Somewhere, loose change collectors everywhere are weeping. This could have been the perfect excuse to finally spend that rogue quarter and weird Canadian dime rolling around in your console. But alas, your coins are safe, and useless, for another day.
Bonus Fun for Fans in Corpus Christi
If you happen to be near Whataburger’s hometown, the chain is throwing a full-on party at Whataburger Field tonight. Think baseball, an “Orange Out” game where the Corpus Christi Hooks will play as the Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits (yes, really), free masks and capes, fireworks, and coupons for a Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit on your way out. Basically, it’s a burger-themed Comic-Con.
So yes, the 75-cent burger is worth it. Just be ready to trade your spare change for some storage space on your phone.
