Is This The Dumbest Criminal In Texas?
The dumbest criminal in Texas award for 2025 may already have a winner. If this guy isn't the dumbest one, he's absolutely the unluckiest one.
I'm not a master criminal or anything but, like most Texas residents with a taste for the mota, I keep my eyes open and I can spot an unmarked police car from a mile away. Seriously, they're generally not that hard to spot if you know what to look for.
Clearly, this guy didn't know what to look for ...
Undercover cops in Lakeway, Texas were on a stakeout, hoping to catch a car thief. Cameras with Automated License Plate Recognition abilities noted a stolen car had been abandoned near downtown Austin and the Po-Po were trying to find the thief.
How Did Police Catch The Thief?
They found him. Well, I should say, he found them ... when he tried to steal THEIR unmarked police car. Not realizing it was a cop car, (filled with cops no less), he made an ill fated attempt to jack it. Realizing his mistake he tried to run for it but that didn't go well.
5-OH caught him and, you'll love this, discovered that he had another stolen car in his possession at the time they busted him. This guy needs a new line of work.
Other Stupid Texas Criminals
Here are 2 other Texas crooks who should have taken a different path in life:
A Texas bank robber honored the tellers request to show his ID before she could give him any money. Insult to injury: Trying to escape, he grabbed a woman holding a baby to use as a hostage - she kicked his azzz.
A thief in Houston left his cell phone and a traffic ticket with his name on it at the scene of the robbery he had just committed.
It's Not Just Texas
Pennsylvania - Guy tries to 1), rob a retired police chief while he's attending 2), a police officers convention.
New Mexico - Guy leaves his business card with clerk after shoplifting.
Arizona - Shooter ID'd by New York Yankees tattoo ... in the middle of his forehead.
