Cruise Line Cancels Voyages from Galveston: Texas Cruisers React
Texas cruise lovers just got some bad news. If you had a cruise planned out of Galveston in the not-too-distant future, many of those sailings have been cancelled. Fortunately, the major schedule change only affects one specific cruise carrier operating out of the Port of Galveston, but it is one of the major cruise lines serving the port.
Many Texas guests from as far away as Abilene, San Marcos, and even Midland/Odessa make the pilgrimage every spring and summer to Galveston to spend time on these floating resorts at sea. However, some trips planned for itineraries in the fall and winter will either have to be moved to a new cruise line or scuttled altogether.
Cruise Line Cancels Sailings Out of Galveston, Texas
That port not only serves commercial traffic in and out of the Houston Ship Channel but when it comes to cruises, guests in Louisiana can book passage on several different lines. Among the cruise lines that serve Galveston are Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Disney, Norwegian, MSC, and the Princess Cruise Line as well.
What Cruise Lines Have Cancelled Sailing Out of Galveston?
Many of the itineraries that sail from Galveston are trips across the Gulf to Mexico and then deeper into the Caribbean. There are also some repositioning cruises that were set to sail later this year out of Galveston that could actually take guests from the Upper Texas Coast through the locks of the Panama Canal and on to San Diego.
And while it's quite fun to contemplate cruises in the future we do have some bad news to share with many of you who had booked passage on Princes Cruise Lines out of Galveston during the November 2026 to March 2027 time frame. Before you freak all the way out, just know that is "next" November, not the one that is coming up this year.
Princess Cruise Lines have announced that the Majestic Princess will not be sailing from Galveston during those dates as originally planned. The company downplayed the schedule change by saying it was part of a global fleet deployment strategy. Princess Cruise Lines has contacted all affected guests and offered to make other arrangements.
The new proposed itinerary for the Majestic Princess has not been announced but information on the plans for that vessel is expected to be revealed soon. This announcement does not affect any other Prince Cruise Line sailings out of Galveston already on the books for this year and early next year.
If you're unsure about what to do or how to get a refund or replacement trip, contact your booking agent or contact the cruise line directly.
