Duolingo Taking Over Closed Texas Hooters Locations?
A few Hooters in Texas suddenly have 'Duolingo Coming Soon' signs on the old restaurants. What is going on?!
In case you're not aware, Duolingo is a language learning app. Which people have a love/hate relationship with. The company's mascot is an owl and it looks like that owl is taking up residence in a former owl's residence.
Apparently Duolingo has taken up four closed Hooters locations across the country and two of them are right here in Texas. If you visit the closed Hooters in Beaumont or Galveston right now. You will be greeted by the Duolingo Owl.
Is Duolinjo Making Stores in Texas?
According to USA Today, the company is doing this for an advertising campaign. "Duo has always had a flair for drama. When he spotted empty nests around the country, he did what any overly ambitious owl might do: Leave a few feathers and see who noticed. Learning can show up in unexpected places, and sometimes so can Duo."
From Hooters to tutors is honestly a great advertising slogan. Looks like Duolingo could become the new Spirit Halloween, overtaking closed stores throughout the country. Duolingo also has signs up at two other closed Hooters in the country. St Louis, Missouri and Charlotte, North Carolina also have Duolingo signs on them currently.
Hooters closed thirty locations over the summer. They still have almost 200 locations across the country. Get out there to get some chicken wings and beer before your favorite Hooters location becomes a Duolingo...thing.
