On Thursday, some scary weather rolled through the Texas Panhandle, and several tornadoes were seen as big storms moved across the area. Footage from several of these tornadoes can be seen in the video at the bottom of this article.

These storms brought strong winds, heavy rain, and spinning clouds that turned into tornadoes in some places. People living in towns like Amarillo and smaller communities nearby were told to stay alert and be ready to take cover if needed. Tornadoes can be very dangerous, and even though many people in Texas are used to storms, it can still be scary to see one forming in the sky.

Thursday storms spark tornado sightings in Texas Panhandle

The National Weather Service had already warned people that bad weather was coming. They put out tornado watches and warnings early in the day. As the storms moved east, people shared videos and photos of tornadoes forming in fields and near roads. Luckily, there weren’t any major reports of damage or injuries right away, but emergency crews were ready just in case something happened.

This time of year is known as tornado season in Texas, which means storms like this can happen more often. That’s why weather experts say having a plan is really important. If there’s a tornado warning, go to a safe place like a basement or an inside room with no windows.
