Pineywoods Diesel and Auto is Now Officially Open

If you've driven down South First Street in Lufkin, you've probably noticed lots of changes. Road repairs, land clearing, and several new businesses. One of those businesses is now officially open.

For years, there's been an automotive shop at 1518 S. First Street, right next to DP Solutions and across the street from Taco Casa. If you scroll through old Google Maps, you'll see that it used to be Texas Muffler & Custom.

According to Google Maps, that picture was from November 2024. Since then, the muffler shop closed down. Now, a new business has moved in, and it's officially open. This is what the shop looks like right now:

It now has new owners, a new look, and a new business: Pineywoods Diesel and Auto. It's owned and operated by Blake Wallace. According to their Facebook page, it's a diesel and auto mechanic shop, and they claim that "If it has wheels [they] can fix it up for you."

This new shop has actually been open a few weeks now, but the grand opening - or the "official opening", as some would like to call it - was Friday, May 29th. That was when they had a big celebration, complete with giveaways, burgers, hot dogs, cupcakes and more.
