Texas Substitute Teacher Arrested For Coming To School High
Quincy Jammal Childress, 36, of Diboll was suspected of being under the influence of marijuana and was removed from contact with students before 8:30 AM on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Lufkin Middle School. The Texas substitute teacher was arrested for allegedly having marijuana according to the Lufkin Daily News (LDN).
During a Lufkin ISD Police investigation, he was charged with having less than 2 oz of marijuana in a drug-free zone. He was booked into the Angelina County Jail and released the same day.
Marijuana Found On Lufkin Middle School Campus
They also found two guns in Chidlress's vehicle in the school parking lot during a search.
The school district released this statement:
“We are thankful to staff who immediately recognized and notified administrators, and to our Lufkin ISD PD for quickly handling the situation,” the release says. “The safety of our students and staff are of utmost importance and we will continue to investigate the incident.”
Criminal charges are still pending in this case. All schools in Texas are drug and weapon-free zones, and he will be facing charges related to both of these issues found by Lufkin ISD Police.
This Isn't The First Time That Childress Was Arrested in Lufkin
Childress was also arrested for an alleged theft by the Lufkin Police according to an article from LDN in 2016 when he was 29.

The Lufkin Middle School is a large facility even by Texas standards, with an enrollment of 1,596 students during the 2021 - 2022 school year.
