If you are under 30, you might not know the story of Lorena Gallo, formerly Lorena Bobbitt. In 1993 she was on every T.V. in the nation during a salacious trial for the malicious wounding of her then-husband, John Bobbitt. She was found not guilty.

After years of verbal, physical, and sexual abuse she made a desperate decision. Now you can hear what happened directly from Lorena herself.

The Family Crisis Center Of East Texas is bringing her to Lufkin as a keynote speaker at their second annual Passion for Purple Luncheon to raise awareness about domestic violence.

"The national attention Lorena's abuse, trauma, and trial garnered set the stage for important conversations and actions concerning domestic violence, its impact on survivors, families, and communities, and the steps needed to improve education and support," said Whitney Burran, Executive Director of the Janelle Grum Family Crisis Center of East Texas.

The luncheon is on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at the Pitser Garrison Convention Center located at 601 North 2nd Street in Lufkin. Tickets for the event are $50 each, and for an extra $20 you can get a VIP meet-and-greet pass.
