  • Structure Fire At 209 South Timberland
  • The fire was reported at 6:21 am
  • No injuries reported

The morning crew at a local Lufkin Burger King on Timberland Drive got to meet some Lufkin Firemen when they were called to an early morning fire at the business. The fire started in the kitchen of the favorite drive-thru shortly after 6 am.

According to KTRE firefighters were able to contain the fire to the kitchen and the roof of the building. There were no injuries reported.

I drove by the business this morning on the way to work and they had the driveways blocked off with cones. The front door was open to help air out the structure, and the fire is still under investigation.

Burger King In Lufkin Has A Second Location

Luckily you won't have to drive much further to get your BK breakfast, there is another location on HWY 59 next to Cracker Barrell. The Burger King on Timberland is much older and is one of the few fast food places that hasn't been torn down and rebuilt in Lufkin.

The building has been there for well over 30 years and is currently owned by US Merit in Tyler, Texas. This fire might be a catalyst for some improvements on the property.

We could be down a Burger King for a little while in Lufkin. We already lost a Dairy Queen in Lufkin due to a fire that is now permanently closed.

Hopefully, that will not be the case and things will be back to normal soon.
