In Deep East Texas we are surrounded by beautiful trees. We take our wooded paradise for granted, hidden from prying eyes.
The only thing better than a pine curtain of trees is a pine blanket of trees that gives us even more shade and oxygen. In Texas, we have to celebrate Arbor Day on a different date from the rest of the United States.

The Nationwide Arbor Day in April doesn't correspond with the best time to plant a tree in Texas. According to Keep Texas Beautiful, the first Arbor Day in Texas was celebrated on February 22, 1889.
Official Arbor Day In Texas Was Moved To The First Friday In November
Texas officials slowly moved Texas Arbor Day off of this date. Over the years it changed to the first Friday in November. Here in Deep East Texas we still think spring is a great time to plant certain varieties of trees.
That's why Angelina Beautiful Clean and Texas A&M Forest Service have their annual free seedling giveaway on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 9 AM. This is a first come first served event, so the earlier you get there, the better the selection.

They will give way Cherrybark Oak, Bald Cypress, Nuttall Oak, Pecan, Shumard Oak, and Sawtooth Oak seedlings free in the parking lot.
This event will happen rain or shine, but the weather for tomorrow looks great, though still unseasonably warm. Take this opportunity to get a free tree to replace one that you lost in a drought or storm.
