When it comes to comfort food, especially chicken and dumplings, Texas does it better than all other states. While the majority of Texans would probably say the best chicken and dumplings are found at their mom or granny’s house, there are some Texas restaurants that deserve some recognition too. 

Chicken and Dumplings Have Changed Throughout the Years 

When chicken and dumplings started with dumplings being created by European countries with early settlers bringing them to America. At that time, they were simple dough balls that were boiled or steamed with stew or soup. 

Americans added chicken as a protein to the delicious dumplings. It’s a fairly simple recipe and fills people up, which is why it’s been so popular for so long.

While I hate to admit this, I don’t know the single best restaurant in Texas for chicken and dumplings. Sure, I love to eat them, but it’s been years, and I am craving them now.

Debate Between New or Old Chicken and Dumping Recipes 

There is a bit of a debate when it comes to chicken and dumplings anymore and it’s based around the broth. 

The older recipes include just that a chicken broth and some spices as a base for the classic comfort food dish.

The new recipes that people are creating have added more of a cream-based broth for extra richness.  

I have yet to decide which one I prefer more, which means I need to eat more chicken and dumplings.
