Smugglers Now Tossing Spikes at Border Control Vehicles
Texas Border Patrol agents and all law enforcement need to be extra careful as we are now finding out that smugglers are throwing spikes at Border Patrol vehicles that are attempting to pursue them.
Most people know that when law enforcement has activated their lights that means you must pull over immediately, but these criminals are willing to do whatever it takes to get away with the crimes they are committing.
What Spikes Are Being Thrown at Border Patrol Vehicles?
According to KXAN, these new weapons being used by smugglers are essentially “improvised tire deflation devices.”
There have been over 20 instances where Border Patrol agents will be in pursuit and these dangerous devices are used to stop law enforcement vehicles.
These Dangerous Devices Could End in Death
If one of these clusters of nails were to hit a law enforcement vehicle during a pursuit not only could it disable the vehicle but could cause the agent to crash at a high rate of speed.
Increased Violence at the Border
Border Patrol agents are reporting an uptick in violence toward law enforcement recently.
This is alarming as smugglers in the past when caught always tell migrants to ‘run’ and now they’re yelling ‘fight’.
Fortunately, no agents have reported any injuries so far.
This battle is going to continue. It’s frightening, but once again we should be thanking every law enforcement officer and Border Patrol agent for the work they put in daily to keep Texas and the U.S. safe.
