According to a post on the Nacogdoches Police Department's Facebook Page, evidence gathered in this case has led detectives to believe that the suspects planned to rob the individuals at the residence on W. California St.
At the time of the robbery, several individuals, including the victim, were present inside the residence. Witness accounts and evidence suggest that at least three out of the seven suspects are believed to have used firearms during the robbery. A total of 3 individuals are believed to have been struck by gunfire during the homicide.
A large number of firearms have been recovered during the initial search warrants that were served and during the execution of Thursday's arrest warrants.
It is believed that this case involved the highest number of suspects ever in an NPD murder investigation. Arrangements are being made for the return of the suspect arrested in Louisiana.
Throughout the course of this homicide investigation law enforcement personnel have dedicated over 1534 man hours to ensure that those responsible were brought to justice.
NPD expresses its gratitude to the U.S. Marshals, Homeland Security, ATF, Nacogdoches Sheriff's Dept., Lufkin Police, Center Police, U.S. Postal Inspector, U.S. Marshals, and the Nacogdoches Combined SWAT Team for their invaluable assistance in the investigation and warrant execution.
