Sooner or Later...It Was Going to Happen

For 40 straight drawings, the current Powerball run has not produced a grand prize winner.  However, on the 41st drawing, which had to be delayed until Tuesday morning due to an issue with necessary protocols, one person matched all six numbers (10-33-41-47-56, PB - 10) to claim the world-record setting $2.04 billion jackpot.

That one person is from California. The winning ticket was purchased at Joe's Service Center in Altadena, California. It's a suburb of Los Angeles with a population of around 43,000. Just think, someone walked into this convenience store/service station pictured below, plopped down some money to purchase some Powerball tickets, and now has won the largest lottery payout in world history.

The estimated cash value is $929,100,000. Granted, when you figure in the 24% mandatory federal tax on gambling winnings along with another 37% on income taxes, plus state and local taxes, the take home could be somewhere closer to $250,000,000...

BUT STILL!! That's enough money to keep everyone in your family well off for generations to come, and still have enough left over to put a $10 million bet on the Astros to repeat as World Series Champs in 2023.

Another Texas Millionaire

This current Powerball run has produced ten $1 million winners from Texas.  That's what happens when you match all five of the non-Powerball numbers.  The tenth $1 million winner occurred with the most recent drawing.

Someone purchased that winning ticket from C's Speedy Mart on Bissonnet in Houston.
