UPDATED - 3/4. 5:30 am

Significant freezing rain has been falling mainly south of the Lufkin and Nacogdoches are overnight.  A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Polk, San Jacinto, and Walker counties.  A Winter Weather Advisory continues in effect through the morning for Angelina and Nacogdoches counties.  Icing on roadways has been reported throughout Polk county and southwestern Trinity county.

Sunday afternoon and evening a mixture of sleet and freezing rain led to the closing and/or delayed start of schools in the Tyler/Longview area.  The Lufkin/Nacogdoches area was pretty much spared.  Tonight, however, the tables could be turned as a Winter Weather Advisory will be in place.

An area of precipitation is expected to move across parts of the Pineywoods overnight bringing a mix of rain, freezing rain, and sleet.  The Winter Weather Advisory is set to go into effect at 3 a.m. tonight and expire at noon tomorrow.  Counties in the advisory include Angelina, Nacogdoches, Cherokee, Shelby, San Augustine, Sabine, Houston, Trinity, Polk, Tyler, Jasper, and Newton.  A Winter Storm Warning is in place for many of the counties from Austin to College Station to Brenham.
